The D-Link DAP-1610 AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender is a compact wall-plug device designed to extend the coverage of an existing wireless network and improve Wi-Fi availability in areas where the router's signal may be weaker. It features simultaneous dual-band connectivity, supporting up to 300Mbps on 2.4GHz and 867Mbps on 5GHz, with a combined AC1200 class wireless rate.

The DAP-1610's dual-band design allows compatible devices to connect over either 2.4GHz or 5GHz, providing greater flexibility depending on range and network requirements. It uses two fixed external omnidirectional antennas and supports IEEE 802.11ac/n/g/b/a standards, providing compatibility with a broad range of existing Wi-Fi devices.

Setting up the extender is straightforward with the dedicated WPS button. Users can connect the DAP-1610 to an existing router with a simple one-touch setup, while the three-segment Wi-Fi signal-strength indicator helps identify a suitable position for the extender. D-Link also supports configuration through its QRS Mobile app and web interface.

The DAP-1610 also includes a 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet port, allowing wired devices such as smart TVs, game consoles and computers to connect to the network. The Ethernet connection can also be used to create a wireless hotspot from a wired Internet connection, making the extender useful beyond simple Wi-Fi range expansion.
