The UGREEN 70499 is a compact external hard drive enclosure designed to turn a compatible 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD into a portable external storage drive. It provides a convenient way to reuse an existing internal drive for file transfers, backups, additional storage, system upgrades, or accessing data from another computer without installing the drive internally. It supports 2.5-inch SATA I, SATA II, and SATA III drives up to 9.5mm in thickness.

The enclosure uses a USB-C host connection with USB 3.2 Gen 2 / USB 3.1 Gen 2 support, allowing the enclosure to take advantage of high-speed data transfer when connected to a compatible USB-C port. The internal SATA III interface supports speeds of up to 6Gbps, while the enclosure's USB interface can operate at up to 10Gbps. Actual transfer speeds depend on the installed drive, computer, USB port, cable, and other system conditions.

Built with an aluminum alloy exterior, the enclosure provides a durable and portable housing while helping dissipate heat generated during extended drive activity. The integrated ASM235CM controller supports features such as UASP and TRIM with compatible drives and host systems. An automatic sleep function can also reduce unnecessary power consumption when the enclosure is inactive.

Installation is designed to be simple and tool-free, allowing a compatible 2.5-inch SATA drive to be installed without complicated assembly or additional drivers. The enclosure is bus-powered through USB, and the included 50cm USB-C to USB-C cable provides a ready connection to compatible devices. It supports up to 6TB of storage and is suitable for use with compatible Windows, macOS, Linux, and other supported systems and devices.
