The MacBook Neo (A18 Pro, 13-inch) is Apple’s most affordable and portable laptop, released in March 2026. It is designed as a budget-friendly "everyday" Mac, making it ideal for students, first-time Mac users, and basic office tasks.
Key Highlights
-
Unique Processor: It is the first Mac to use an A-series chip (the A18 Pro from the iPhone 16 Pro) instead of an M-series chip. This allows it to be powerful enough for web browsing and AI tasks while remaining very affordable.
-
Vibrant Design: It features a slim, fanless aluminum body with rounded corners. It comes in a "fun" color palette: Blush, Indigo, Citrus, and Silver.
-
AI-Ready: Despite its budget price, it fully supports Apple Intelligence (AI writing tools, photo cleanup, etc.) thanks to its 16-core Neural Engine.
-
Silent & Light: Because it has no fans, it runs completely silent. Weighing only 1.23 kg, it is one of the lightest laptops Apple has ever made.
The Trade-offs (To keep the price low)
-
Memory: It is fixed at 8GB RAM (cannot be upgraded).
-
Keyboard: The keys are not backlit, which may be tricky in dark rooms.
-
Ports: It has two USB-C ports, but only the left one supports high-speed USB 3; the right one is slower USB 2 speed.
-
Touch ID: The base 256GB model does not have a fingerprint sensor (it’s only on the 512GB model).
