The 12MP Wide Camera: A Breakthrough in Low-Light Photography

The cornerstone of the iPhone 12 Pro’s camera system is its powerful 12-megapixel Wide lens. Engineered for exceptional performance in any lighting condition, it features a fast ƒ/1.6 aperture and an advanced seven-element lens that pulls in 27% more light than previous generations. Whether you are shooting in a dimly lit restaurant or under the night sky, your images will retain crisp, vibrant detail with minimized noise. Powered by Apple’s A14 Bionic chip, this camera leverages advanced computational photography—including Smart HDR 3 and Deep Fusion—to automatically balance highlights, shadows, and textures for incredibly lifelike results. It also brings Hollywood-grade production to your pocket, making it the first smartphone camera to record 10-bit HDR video with Dolby Vision.

Mastering the Night

Thanks to the wide ƒ/1.6 aperture and 100% Focus Pixels, the Wide camera on the iPhone 12 Pro excels when the sun goes down. Night mode automatically kicks in for low-light scenes, capturing stunning, bright, and detailed photos without the need for a harsh flash.

The Power of Apple ProRAW

The iPhone 12 Pro introduced Apple ProRAW to the main camera, giving professional creators the best of both worlds. It combines Apple’s powerful multiframe image processing—like Deep Fusion and Smart HDR—with the deep editing flexibility of a raw format. You get a massive head start on noise reduction and exposure, with complete freedom to fine-tune color balance and white point in post-production.

Cinematic Dolby Vision Video

Step into the director’s chair with unprecedented video quality. The Wide camera captures 4K video at up to 60 fps, and natively records in 10-bit HDR with Dolby Vision. This means you can capture, edit, and share cinematic video with over 700 million colors directly from your phone.
