The 12MP Main Camera: Grand Scale Photography Powered by the Photonic Engine

The iPhone 14 Plus combines an upgraded 12-megapixel Main camera with an expansive 6.7-inch viewfinder, making framing every shot an absolute pleasure. Built around a larger sensor with 1.9 µm pixels and a fast ƒ/1.5 aperture, it captures 49 percent more light for exceptional detail, richer colors, and sharper contrast. Driving this system is Apple’s Photonic Engine—an advanced image processing pipeline that applies Deep Fusion technology earlier on uncompressed data to dramatically elevate mid- and low-light photos. Combined with gimbal-like Action mode for ultra-steady handheld video and 4K Cinematic mode, the Main camera delivers professional-quality results on a grand scale.

Dramatically Better Low-Light Performance

Thanks to a physical sensor upgrade and the power of the Photonic Engine, the Main camera processes image data faster and earlier in the capture process. This preserves subtle textures, natural skin tones, and rich detail even in tricky or dimly lit environments without relying on a harsh flash.

Action Mode for Gimbal-Free Video

Record ultra-smooth video on the move. Alongside sensor-shift optical image stabilization for crisp handheld photos, the Main camera features Action mode. It automatically compensates for major shakes, bumps, and vibrations, giving you smooth, cinema-grade stabilization without carrying an external gimbal.

4K Cinematic Framing on a Bigger Screen

Take full advantage of the larger display to frame cinematic 4K video at 24 fps—the standard frame rate of film—or 30 fps. With support for 10-bit Dolby Vision HDR and customizable Photographic Styles, you can dial in your preferred aesthetic and preview your footage with maximum color accuracy.
