The Samsung 990 Pro is a PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD built around Samsung's own 8nm "Pascal" controller and 7th-generation TLC V-NAND. It succeeded the 980 Pro as Samsung's flagship consumer drive and was released in late 2022, with 1TB, 2TB, and later 4TB capacities.
The 1TB model includes 1GB of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, and Samsung rates it for sequential read speeds up to 7,450 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,900 MB/s, with random performance up to roughly 1,400K/1,550K IOPS.
